I am a self-taught mixed media artist who has been creating for as long as I can remember. I find the more I learn the more I want to learn. What ever medium I have mastered at the time, I bring with me into my next creative endeavors, constantly building and expanding with these newly learned techniques. I am always asking myself “what if”. I love making art dolls because through them, I can use a myriad of disciplines: drawing, painting, sculpting, stamping, dying, sewing and papermaking. In each of my dolls, I strive to give them the essence of movement, in hopes that the viewer gets the impression that they could turn and talk and tell you thier story–this has recently led me into experimenting with puppets and marionette making.

My dolls are not considered “pretty” in the tradional sense. What I hope the viewer feels as they look at my dolls is a pause in spirit, causing them to take a second deeper look at the figure.

I think art that is made from the spirit is iconic. It is a “doorway” that enable us to glimpse the sacred as well as our revealed true selves. I believe that doll making can be healing and enlightening as well as funny and playful.

I live with my quilt artist husband and 3 kids, 8 pampered chickens and 1 beloved cat, on 3 1/2 acres in a small town in Washington State. They are my cheerleaders and I am very grateful to have them in my world.
