Well, saw the Dr. and the x-rays. Broke the smaller of the two leg bones above my ankle. I have bright pink cast that my daughter is itching to decorate LOL…I am to keep weight off of it or they will really push me to get a screw put in. I am rolling around the house on a scooter type thingie (who in their right mind would emboss your company name where a person puts their shin all day????). Kids are being great about helping me, Scott is good too but constantly telling me to go slower, don’t stretch so much yadda yadda yadda. After scooting up stairs on my butt a few times I decided to move some of my studio down stairs. I cannot do the face-ups on my new dolls but am doing alot of beading of buttons for upcoming Quilters Home article etc. And tryng to now to not become too depresses about this whole thing—I hate the cast, I hate using one leg only, I hate not being able to drive myself, I hate it hate it hate it. It does not hurt but now kinda itches and I have to not think about how my foot is enclosed in plaster for an indeterminate amount of time–it makes me feel claustrophobic and then I want to take a knife to it–so I try and distract myself. Scott bought me a beautiful Brother sewing machine that I cannot use because of the cast to I am going to use that as a goal/reward to myself. If you are a praying individual I would really appreciate your prayers this I would not need surgery and that it would heal super fast! Thank you.

Here is the progress on my “gypsy” doll so far.
The bead strands below will be part of her “hair”. I have had to put this project on hold for awhile….the reason is in my next post. Stay tuned..”same bat channel, same bat station” (yes, I AM dating myself LOL!).

Here are pictures of my gypsy doll so-far. Yes, her legs look too long but remember that she will be fully clothed and I have figured out that the “body” doesn’t have to look perfect because it will be completely covered. One foot is bent-so that she look like she is taking a step–it goes along with theme of the doll (and she will have shoes). You can also see a picture of her hand. They look pretty good to me, but again, they will get partially covered up.

I feel that her face turned out good. She kinda reminds me of Julie Andrews. Since this picture I have gotten her pantaloons, slip, shoes and blouse finished. Those pictures will follow later. I am planning on beading the cuffs of the blouse but am having construction difficulties. The blouse is a kinda of raw silk and is a stinker to work with, I am toying with the idea of beading on interfacing “and then” putting it on the cuffs. We’ll see if that work out. The colors for the doll are greens and fall colors (reds, golds, brown, yellows etc). The next two steps are really Scott’s job now–he has some major parts he is to add to the costume. I don’t want to say to much here because it is to go to the Houston Quilt Market/Treasure of the Gypsies show in Oct. When finished she will be approx 24 inches tall. I am thinking I will ask my FIL to make a special stand for her–he LOVES to be able to use all his toys/tools so he digs this kind of request, LOL (And yes, that is a spot/mole on her upper lip. I have one on mine–so I put it on ALL my dolls as kinda of a signature.)

I have just posted pictures of my beaded skeleton doll on my “beaded Icon” page. Is it also on etsy for sale.
