Here is a sweet little doll that I made a corset for—it was requested that I make one a size smaller (from Sd sized to Msd sized). Here she is. Her owner was happy with the results–whew, always makes me nervous when selling to people as a request. Her owner is having a dolly coffin made for her so the skull theme on the corset fit rights in. I am right now finishing up another request (a 2 headed bunny) that I will be posting pics here soon. Then I am onto giving Scott’s Hujoos a face-up (yup, you read that right). He bought a Berry Girl and a Hujoo Girl Tan. His plan is to use them for his “photo shoots” and for featuring his “fabric lines.” Hey, gives me an excuse to play with some more dolls.
I also is working on making small blank journals that could be used as props or as just small travel journals, beading yet more pins (sadly the gallery that I have others in is closing, lack of sales in this recession), necklace ideas and a beaded gypsy doll..whew ;0)

Would you believe that I have been making dolly corsets??? Yup, I have. My models are Souldoll Hazy and Dollstown Yeondu. I bought the pattern from a nice lady in Aussie land, Just Shining. The patterns were great and better yet, down loadable PDF’s…YEAH, no postage! I asked permission to make some to sell and these are them. I will be putting them up for sale on my Etsy site here in a few days. The two tan corsets are made with vintage materials and trims.

My 12 year old daughter sent me this email on mothers day:
I want to say thank you for all you do. for cooking and cleaning and making us bentos boxes
. I know you don’t get to here it enough but, “thank you” ^^ I just woke up
(tired) so I don’t really have enough time to right something long but, I’ll try my best to make a poem for you:
in the night when the thunder roars, i am scared
but, you are there.
in the day where my friends cause trouble,
you are there to tell me how to get threw this.
i want to say thank you, but that seems to small.
(dad’s here and want to check his email, so i don’t have long at all)
there’s not much else to say, your my one and only mom and I’m very happy to have you
THANK YOU!

(I love the part about Dad wanting the computer to check his email). I hope everyone else had a lovely Mothers Day, I know I sure did.

I have added new pictures of an outfit that I made for my Sd sized boy doll and progress on my homemade Bjd. They can been seen on my BJd page.
Also, Scott has submitted his book proprosal to C and T publishing and it has pass through the first editors review. From there it has to go through 2 more hurdles to be accepted. He is very excited.

I made these crowns for my Sd sized girls (but they do fit my one Msd sized doll). They are vintage xmas and jewelry pieces with some Dresden scrap thrown in. I posted them on a BJD forum and they were all bought by Connie Lowe of Marbled Halls (http://www.marbledhalls.com/) She bought them to use with the costumes she makes and sells. There is some talk of us doing a collaboration in the future. I will be making more of these and selling them on this site and my Etsy store…I think every girl needs a crown, no?!

(the above are Elfdoll Hazy)

(This little girl is Dollstown Sd 13 Yeondu).

Scott bought me some fun Japanese fabrics for Christmas…they have bears, and houses, and shoes etc on them. It was perfect to make a little girl outfit out of. This is Suzu modeling. I used the basic pattern sloper pieces from Undead Threads (yup, you read that right!) and then tweaked it to fit her young girl body. Check out the trim on the dress–it is the cutest and wish I had more!

For my pals that are interested, I am adding my progress on my homemade BJD on my bjd page (link is on the right hand of this page, halfway down). I am now working on the balls/joints, and it is proving to be an interesting project.

Well, I FINALLY did it…I finished the socks that I had been knitting for Scott. Now the story is…I have been knitting them for about 3 YEARS!!!! It is easy for me to get the first sock done but then when I have to do the second…argh…it just seems so….boring!!!!! Whew..it feels great to have them done and they will end up being a Christmas present…good thing my family does not depend on me for them huh!? Silly thing to post I suppose but I am so happy to have them done ;0)

My back is also improving…I am not taking the Vicadene anymore. The colors are all gone..it is just muscle sore now and I need to start stretching it–ouch! I will be adding a page to the side of this blog/website.
I am changing the direct of my doll making and I have decided to work on making my own BJDs. The added page on the side will be reflecting that WIP (work in progress). I suppose it seems a natural progression. Movement in a doll is important to me..in my opinion if it cannot move it is a sculpture and not a doll. I have been increasingly frustrated with joints and movements in my dolls. Awhile ago someone suggested to me that I move into ball-joints for my doll and I had resisted–opps, here I am LOL.

Please bare with me awhile….this is my birthday present to me mostly from myself and Scott made the final payment. He is a Soul Doll, Killian. He came from Korea and is too a BJD. He is approx 62 centimeters (about 2 feet). He came with an awful wig so I made him a new one till I can figure out what one I want to buy for him. He came with the face painting–I think he is very wonderful. I made his out fit for him and like sewing for this size of doll very much. He goes well with my Elf Doll Tifa.
I found out that jersey knit is really easy to sew with and will be making more out of this fabric.
His pants are made out of a skirt that I bought at Pacific beach (the Wacky Warehouse). The skirt was UGLY but the material was different and when I cut it open there was lots of it. Scott likes how it looks in his pants. I used a free on-line pant pattern and think they turned out quit well. I bought his shoes–they have skulls on them too LOL. I find myself looking at how young men dress to get ideas on how to costume him.

My friend gave these to Mimi and I for our birthdays. The green one is mine and, I am not sure what it looks like on your monitor, but the other one is bright pink!!!! She bought them from a lady at her church who makes and sells these. They are made out of used “items”….pillows, sheets, towels etc. I think they are charming and I may not take mine of the hanger ;0)
I have been slow in the art area here. I am almost done with an article that I have been requested to write for Doll Crafter and Costuming. That magazine has a new editor and after what happened with Art Doll Quarterly, I am a bit gun shy as to if they will keep the article or not. I did get paid for the last one I did (the sculpting one) and it was fun to get that check!!! Noel will be starting running start on the 21st of Sept and Max and Mimi start taking classes (2 days a week) on the 28th (the other 3 days I homeschool them). We had to buy books for Noel’s classes (YUCK!!!). I am in the process of figuring out his bus schedule. And there are a misc fees that have to be paid for before he starts. Along with the fact that Scott was in a car accident (he has minor whiplash but the van was pretty smashed up) and I am waiting for it to get fixed. I think all this is taking energy from me mentally and I am finding that I am having a hard time getting into a creative spot. I think that is why I am enjoying my BJD’s right now. They are a “canvas” that I can create upon versus when I make my dolls it is from the bottom up (or rather inside out LOL). I know my muse will visit me sometime soon but right now I am going to enjoy “playing” with my toys. Will you still be here when my must shows up again?

Last weekend my daughter and I attended a GothicLolita/Ball Jointed Doll convention (http://www.innocenteseraphim.com/) at the Westen in Bellevue. We had a great time and went to lots of workshops (intro to Bjd’s, photo 101, customizing Bjd’s, intro to Lolita fashion, face ups and dressing Bjd’s.) We also attended a scrumptious tea party and meet some lovely ladies from Oregon and Bellingham. It was a small convention but I can see how it will grow in years to come. If you have no clue what I mean by Gothic Lolita here is a wiki article that explains it well: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion). It is primarily a street fashion in Japan and I was interested to see the clothes for doll costuming (there were also people there dressed Steam punk–my fav!!). It was a fun day and Mimi and I left broke LOL. Below are some pictures of the attendees. The kids (LOL) loved having thier pictures taken and were most gracious in answering my questions. They may dress different but they were a very nice and polite bunch.
