Mimi and I were out grocery shopping the other day and stopped at a huge garage sale on the way home. I saw this picture and laughed out load–needless to say, she thought the big-eyed-sad-cats was VERY cute. She had to have it LOL, so now it sits in her bedroom waiting to be put up on the wall. Oh does this picture bring back memories.!!!!!
The buttons are another garage sale find–ohhh who can resist a bag full of old buttons? And the bowl/server is aluminum wear. It is called the “poor man’s silver.” I adore the stuff and bought this piece and 2 others–alittle soft scrub and they come up shinning realy purty!!!
The picture of the 2 headed bear is part of my 100th post give away….hmmm, how many things in the give away does that make? I believe it is 6. The bear is my own design and pattern, he/she is approx 12 inches if it is standing. In the 100th post I will let you know how to enter ok?

Here is my next doll to be done. The head again is molded on a plastic Halloween skull. She was going to be a Sphynx but I kept envisioning a doll with bat wings. I could “see” how I was going to do the wings so this is her armature. She will be aprox 18 inches tall..I want to do her with grey hair (hence, old bat) and am picturing a torn/worn wedding gown (I have a wonderful vintage table cloth that is in a rough state that will be perfect for this.) I am thinking about doing her feet like she is suspended in the air–this is really a bold step for me because I think bare feet are hard–but hey, I can either cut them off (ewww) or make boots (LOL).
Gypsy doll is now on her way to Houston for the quilt market. Lessons learned:
1)When a doll is to be sent, make is as SMALL as possible!! Shipping is EXSPENSIVE!!!!
2)UPS does a better job at packing an doll than me and even if it costs, when they package it they guarantee it.
3)Think 2x about entering a challenge that you really don’t have a good vision for (this means that no matter how much your Dh gives you the puppy eyes and the ”good idea/it will be lots of fun” talk go with your gut and say a polite “no”.)
4)Did I mention that shipping is expensive? Now factor in that you have to pay return on that too, ARGH!!!
I am considering when to post pics of her…should I wait till she is at the show, when she is back or now (it is too late for anyone to copy my interpretation)? If anyone is in Houston for the Quilt Market/Show let me know because I would LOVE to have pictures!!!!
Next; I got my newest tattoo and will post pics (and an explanation) when I get a chance….it is the Phoenix that I had mentioned in an earlier post.
Now, onto sad things…our beloved cat (of approx 15 years) has gone AOL for almost a week. I suspect that she has gone to that big cat box in the sky (she was VERY loyal so we don’t suspect that she left us). On Tues. when Noel was driving to youth group the kids watched a neighbor cat get hit by a truck (the driver just drove off, grrrrrrrrrr)…very yucky. We all cried lots. And a lady that I work with had her house burn down while they were taking their oldest son to college–looks like the house is pretty much destroyed.

Awhile back a feral cat showed up at our door. She was obviously starving but her and my other cat did not get along. I did not want this other cat running off my beloved cat, Sassy. Hmmmm, we decided to feed one on the front porch and the other on the back. I soon noticed that the new cat was bulgie (I guess you can see where this story is going, right??). Well, after some time she wasn’t bulgie. I sent the kids to look in the woods for kittens but they didn’t find any. Last week I was taking Noel to drivers ed and I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. I asked the interloper where she was hiding the kittens but she wouldn’t tell me…..then I saw one sitting in the middle of my walk way….I said a bad word and scooped it up gave it to my #2 son and took Noel to his class. The kitten had one inflamed eye and was barely keeping it open. We bought all the stuff for an indoor cat–I doctored her eye and now it is all better. (The kids were calling her “one-eyed-Pete” and had plans to put a little eye patch on her.) I suspect that she was so undernourished that she could not run off with the rest of the kittens. The first 2 days she slept and ate the whole time. Now she is running and playing. She still is skinny–she looks like a little old man–spindlie legs and a big round tummy. But you can tell that she is feeling better. I called around to find a place for the other cats but all the shelters are full….I have heard that there are agencies that will spay/neuter feral cats for free. My chief concern is that I will be over run by feral animals. We are hoping that we can catch the other kittens (2-one orange and one grey) before they become feral–the mama you can pet when she is eating but she is VERY shy. Now the moral part–can you see this one too??? Yes, good people, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spay or neuter your pets. Awful things happen to feral animals, they are not meant to be in the wild. Lets how some pet responsibility.
There end of sermon.
