I took pictures of our Frog Prince doll and sent them to the editor of Art Doll Quarterly for consideration. This is her reply:
“Hi Linda,
It’s so ironic that I’d get an email from you today because we just had our art selection committee meeting yesterday and made our final placement decisions for the next issue! I was going to contact you yet today to let you know that your Alice mannikin has been chosen as a feature article in the Summer issue. So, what I need from you is an article approximately 800 words in length that includes the following:”
instructions on the article and it’s form, then she ends the email by saying….
“Compensation is paid at a rate of $50 per printed page, however, I won’t know how many pages it will run until my designer begins laying it out. Please let me know as soon as possible if you’re willing to do the article. If you should have any questions or need clarification, feel free to contact me via e-mail (preferred) or phone. I’m only too happy to help. And thanks again for sharing such a terrific project with the readers of Art Doll Quarterly!
Thanks, too, for sending the images of your Oriental Frog Prince. He’s great! I’ll confer with my team and get back to you about him. You do great work.
”
This is so very very cool ;0) And needless to say I am happy happy happy!
(p.s. she is a GREAT Editor to work for. Trust me, I know this.)

So as not to clog up this blog with pics of my Bjd’s, I have up-dated my Bjd page to include some new outfits I have made. Noel starts running start next week (ACK). Frog Prince has been sent off. I made a dress for one of Mimi’s dolls–as per my promise to her, also made Mimi some fingerless stripped gloves out out sleeves. On my desk is a pattern for a christmas elf to be made out of funky 50-ish looking fabric. I am toying with the idea of making it have 2 heads or at the very least a pin head. It is a vintage pattern I am using soI have to “adapt” it LOL. Pictures of these project will follow later.

I finished his hat and am pleased with how it turned out. I had originally envisioned black as the material but the contrast was too much…when I went to Pacific Fabrics I found this dark tobacco green..yes, the color is actually green but in some light is appears brown (i.e. this photo!) I also learned that you really should bring the doll with you unless you want an excuse to buy a few extra fabrics (in case the one you picked doesn’t work LOL!!!).
Yes, this is a picture taken on my desk…you can see it is a “creative spot” huh?!
I made the pattern for the hat from an old Chinese hat that I have (it folds up). I must of made 6 hats before I got the right size, argh!!!
Scott now has his portion to complete. It is an invational doll for the “Art of the Doll” show that is part of the Treasures of the Gypsy doll show…there are really 4 doll shows in one, the gypsies are actaully just one portion. We have been batting ideas around. It will be some kind of throne for him. (Well I need to add a golden ball in froggies palm but other than that I am done LOL).

Here is how my froggy prince looks now. It took a couple of tries on the kimono to get it right (he has a funny pudgy belly that throws the usual pattern off) and also to get the nerve to cut into the fabric. It is gorgeous stuff but kinda scary to cut. He now need a belt and I will make him a hat–again, it took me 3 mock-ups before I got a template that I was happy with. He will have a fu-Manchus mustache as well as a “que” in the back. I have some green mohair curls that I am playing with right now. I am thinking that because the green has so much yellow in it that is does not come off appearing christmas-ie. Any opinion?
