charm side

About a week ago my husband and daughter were doing some errands in town and stumbled upon a Boy Scout rummage sale (or jumble sale as the brits say it-I think? LOL).  They found this charm for me.  I did not crop the pic so you could see the size compared to my hand.  It  it this very sweet carriage.  The wheels move and so does the top so you can see the “baby” inside.  The seller said make an offer, Dh said “how about a quarter?”  Sold.  I looked for a makers mark and could not find one.  We have a close friend who is a jeweler.  I suspected that it was real gold and he confirmed it–he thinks it is 14 carats (with out doing the actual test.)  I do not know what the “jewels” could be but it is so darn cute is it not????  And a very fun find ;0)

gold charm

Here the top is moved so you can see into the carriage and see the baby.

98: Garage sales and give aways

Mimi and I were out grocery shopping the other day and stopped at a huge garage sale on the way home.  I saw this picture and laughed out load–needless to say, she thought the big-eyed-sad-cats was VERY cute.  She had to have it LOL, so now it sits in her bedroom waiting to be put up on the wall.  Oh does this picture bring back memories.!!!!!

The buttons are another garage sale find–ohhh who can resist a bag full of old buttons?  And the bowl/server is aluminum wear.  It is called the “poor man’s silver.”  I adore the stuff and bought this piece and 2 others–alittle soft scrub and they come up shinning realy purty!!!

The picture of the 2 headed bear is part of my 100th post give away….hmmm, how many things in the give away does that make?  I believe it is 6.  The bear is my own design and pattern, he/she is approx 12 inches if it is standing.  In the 100th post I will let you know how to enter ok?

Sparklie Red Top

I found this sweater  redat an estate/garage sale last weekend.  It is COVERED with red bugle bead fringe, front and back and must weigh at least 10 pounds but is was sooooo much fun, I HAD to buy it.  My daughter (who gets embarrassed by me all the time–she is 11 going on 25 LOL) said, Mom, you aren’t going to wear that are you?!  I said yes, of course–I think it will be great with jeans.  Funny thing is, my husband of almost 20 years asked the same thing!!!  You would think he would know better.  Isn’t it great fun??  And when you shimmy–well……… (LOL)!!!
