94: Surprise

Linda April 7th, 2009

My daughter and I were at Fred Meyers a few weeks ago to buy a birthday for for a party she was going to.  We had some time kill so I decided to go over the magazine section and look at “Soft Dolls and Animals.”  Lo and behold on page 51 was an article on last years ‘Gypsy Challenge/Doll” show and what did my wondering eyes see, but my doll on the bottom left corner.  The picture is a bad picture of her, and I am sure you are tired me whining about how she looked at the “show”, but now that it is behind us, Scott and I are finding it pretty funny.  Looks like she is floating huh!  It was kinda shocking to she my doll in a magazine that I did not even know about.

Surprise Money

Yesterday was warm-mid 80′s (finally-we’ve had rain for the last week and temps in the upper 60′s to low 70′s, ARGH!!!).  I tootled out to the mailbox hoping my issue of Mary Jane’s farm was there (it seems to be VERY late in coming, hmmmmmmm).  No magazine, but what I did find was better ;0)  It was a check for $100 from Art Doll Quarterly–payment for printing pictures of my cat doll. Whoopee!!!!  Scott has now informed me that I am now a “professional”…I have sold my dolls and art before but he seems to think that this adds extra stature to my resume LOL.  Does this mean I have to act like a professional?  What does that look like??  Should I buy a “Hillary Clinton” pant suit LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secrets of the Cat Doll featured in Art Doll Quarterly

Here she is, in the Aug/Sept/Oct issue of Art Doll Quarterly, 2008.  I was happy to see her but…(o.k. so maybe I am being nit-picky) the collar is supposed to be standing up, sigh.  I only “I” would know that.  Next time I am going to send a picture of how the doll is supposed to look.  Last issue they edited the heck out of my writing, this one they didn’t but the presentation is wrong–what will the next be (Dear Princess, Princess Deer)  LOLOL!!!  My daughter was sad that she didn’t see her doll in this issue…we sent in dolls that we both had done, they were spiders.
